The Colorimeter measures the amount of light penetrating a solution so can be used for investigations which result in a change in colour or opacity e.g. Beer’s law, enzyme kinetics and chemical rate of reaction experiments.
All our sensors are supplied with 5 years warranty and lifetime support.
It has two ranges: Transmittance (%T) - the amount of light being received referenced to the light sent and Absorbance (Abs) - the amount of light absorbed by the solution.
The light source in the Colorimeter is a white LED which has the advantage of not heating the solution being studied. This white light passes through a cuvette that contains the sample solution, some light is absorbed so the amount received by the photodiode is of lower intensity. A snap-shut lid prevents stray light entering the unit from the environment.
