Laser Module

Order No. 3285

This solid-state laser module is housed in a plastic case and features a safety on/off switch. The laser draws its power from the data logger to produce a red light of 645 to 665 nm wavelength.

The Laser module is not a Smart Q Sensor.

It is designed for use in optic investigations that require a coherent light source e.g. Young’s slits experiments or single ray optic investigations. Two optical slides are supplied with it, one is a set of single and double slits and the other a set of diffraction gratings. Both are suitable for wavelength of light investigations.

Use with a Light level sensor, Rotary Motion sensor, linear track from the Rotary Motion Accessory Kit, all mounted on the Dynamics System for accurate data collection for optics experiments.

The Laser Module can be used to investigate a number of scientific experiments such as:

  • Young’s single and double slit experiments
  • Finding the wavelength of light using a diffraction grating
  • Finding the spacing of the slits in a diffraction grating
  • Optics experiments that need a single slit e.g. angle of incidence of a refracted beam through a glass block.
  • Using the Laser module directed to the infrared receiver on a Smart Q Light Gate to record data from an object interrupting the infrared beam.
