Wireless Infrared SensorThe Infrared Sensor adds another dimension to heat loss and energy transfer experiments.
This multi-range sensor detects the energy from radiant sources from ultraviolet to far infrared.
Measurements can be recorded at three levels using either a Radiance (the intensity of the emitted thermal energy of the source) or Irradiance (the intensity of the incident thermal radiation on the Sensor) range. It has a removable silica glass filter that will block mid and far infrared making the sensor selective for low and high temperature sources.
All warm objects emit infrared radiation, so this sensor can be used to detect the location of a warm item or living organism. When set to its most sensitive ranges it can detect very low IR emissions such as the heat trail left on the bench after you move your hand away.
The SmartQ Infrared Sensor can be used to investigate a number of scientific experiments such as:
All our sensors are supplied with 5 years warranty and lifetime support.

Other Information
The detector window is made from potassium bromide (KBr), which is transparent to energy sources radiating in the wavelength region from 0.23 microns (230 nm) to 40 microns (40,000 nm) i.e. ultraviolet through to the far infrared portion of the spectrum.
KBr (potassium bromide) is hygroscopic so store the sensor in dry conditions.
The silica glass detachable filter allows visible and near infrared to pass i.e. 0.15 to 4 microns but will block out mid and far infrared.
Wavelength region without filter 0.23 - 40 microns. With filter 0.23 - 4 microns
